Miniature Buildings
For me, part of the attraction of making miniature buildings is the ability to create a beautiful, little world where the inhabitants are good, kind people, and the only bad news is that we ran out of starlight mints to decorate our gingerbread houses, or the cat ran off with the licorice strings.
These pages contain a portfolio of my miniature buildings created over the past 15 years or so. When I make a miniature structure, I like it to tell a story, kind of like a three dimensional painting. I want to present the viewer with a warm feeling that draws them in and makes them feel safe, comfortable and happy. My favorite compliment is, "I want to shrink down and live there!"... and my answer is, "me too!"
I have enormous respect and awe for the work of my fellow miniature artisans and I do purchase and incorporate their work into my own creations, because the whole is so much greater than the sum of its parts.
Some of these structures are still in my collection, but most have found homes in museums and private collections. I truly love creating these structures and each one is special to me. Some are one of a kind pieces, and some were made as prototypes for workshops in which I teach people the techniques I use to create the magic. The descriptions of each will tell you if they are in a museum collection and available for viewing, in a private collection, or still available for purchase.
Occasionally I do take commissions. If you are interested in having me make you something special, please use the contact form to ask any questions and see if my work schedule can accommodate your request.
