Pippin Lodge, A Hobbit House
This humble abode was a project made in a 2003 workshop taught by one of my heroes, the multi talented Rik Pierce of Frogmorton Studios. I had been an admirer of his work for several years before I was fortunate enough to get to be a student in his Hobbit House class held at the Philadelphia Miniaturia show. This was such a wonderful experience for me, and I learned so much that I have since applied in the building of my other miniature structures. After the workshop, I had a few ideas of my own to make my hobbit house different, so I took it home and set out to make a few changes to the original design.
This little house is now a fan favorite in the Kathleen Savage Browning Miniatures Collection and on display in the miniatures gallery at the Kentucky Gateway Museum Center in Maysville, Kentucky.
